Comes from France a new confirmation of the great success obtained by Top Ten’s formula. “On stage” the top ten riders in the world ranking, a top course designer, two difficult and challenging courses , a wide audience, are Top 10 Rolex main ingredients, the event created by the International Jumping Riders Club with the support of the famous Swiss watch brand.
For this reason is not accidental was Marcus Ehning, the German rider actually FEI ranking number one, to gain the Top 10 first place hosted last December 11th in Paris Nord Villepint indoor arena. Ehning rode Plot Blue closing the two corse built by the American Conrad Homfeld, the next 2011 World Championship “chef de piste”, with a double clear round and an outstanding time: 44’’89.“This type of competition is very difficult” explains Ehning.“The only two clear rounds after the first course are no surprise, after all this is the place for the best combinations in the world”.
Second place in the final ranking, the Sweden Rolf Bengtsson (Casal La Silla), and third from Canada, the Olympic champion Erica Lamaze (Hickstead). Even if just at its second edition, the attendant crowd great participation and enthusiastic comments, made the French Top 10 event, one of the best indoor show in the world.
In Paris IJRC riders had also to face a meeting on the new FEI anti - doping rules. An issue very controversial among the international federation and the national ones. The club hopes in a quick solution, especially in front of the approaching world championships and the need of clear and shared by the all equestrian sports community rules. It’s no IJRC intention to go in to details about legal or illegal horse medications, after all this is Federations’ job.
IJRC wants to jump only with “fit to compete” horses, in particular with horses that are not under the effects of substances that could modify their performances. However, the riders do not want to be punished if traces of these substances are detected (even if the quantities haven't been determined yet) and even if the substances are recognised as not able to influence horses' performances during the competition. As already attested, IJRC intend to get further information on these substances detection and these medications activity.
For this reason, in the beginning of 2010 will take place a meeting with pharmaceutical industries experts, veterinaries, pharmacologists and chemists, while getting new information on the compatibility between the new international rules and some European countries laws.
