Clean Sport at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

These informations are aimed at keeping the community and all the Paris 2024 participating nations, athletes and support personnel up to date and fully up to speed on all the requirements, processes and measures for clean Games in Paris.

Following the first emailer, in which we featured the publication of the Paris 2024 Doping & Medication Control Guide, we would now like to draw your attention to several key points relating to anti-doping, both for humans and horses.

Read up on all FEI Clean Sport emailers for Paris 2024 on Inside.FEI.org.

Humans: Remember

For an athlete, testing positive at Olympic Games means (among other things):
  • Disqualification of results (including team results in the case of a team competition).

  • Loss of any medals, points and prizes (including those won by the team in the case of a team competition).

  • Possible financial consequences (fines; contribution towards legal costs)

  • Possible period of ineligibility.

Avoid unintentional doping violations by making sure that you hold a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for any prescribed treatment containing prohibited substances. Check the Paris 2024 Doping & Medication Control Guide for details.

Horses: Remember

A horse testing positive at Olympic Games means:
  • Disqualification from the competition.

  • Loss of medals.

  • A period of suspension from future FEI events.

  • Possible financial consequences associated with legal costs.

Measures you can take to stay within the rules

  • We encourage all participating NFs to use the Pre-Arrival Testing service to check that horses are free from prohibited substances. Click here for further information.
  • It’s not just a positive test that can land you in trouble. Other anti-doping rule violations include refusing to submit the horse for sampling when selected, possession of a Banned Substance and tampering with any part of the sampling equipment and process.

  • Carefully read the Paris 2024 Doping & Medication Control Guide to ensure that you are in compliance with the regulations.
