This article is dedicated to the MER, eligibility criteria for the FEI Jumping European Championships 2023, which will take place in Milan (ITA), 29 August-3 September 2023.
Athletes and Horses must achieve the MER at selected Events which take place from 1 January 2022 until 30 July 2023.

Nations Cup Competitions, first or second round:

Athletes and Horses that have completed the first or second round of the Team Jumping Competition at the last Jumping European or World Championship or Pan American Games or other FEI Jumping Continental Championship for Seniors (provided the Continental Championship has the status of a qualifying Event for achieving the MER for the Olympic Games and/or World Championship) with a Score of not more than eight (8) penalties have achieved the MER.
Athletes and Horses that have completed the Individual Jumping Final at the last Jumping European or World Championship or Pan American Games or other FEI Jumping Continental Championship for Seniors (provided the Continental Championship has the status of a qualifying Event for achieving the MER for the Olympic Games and/or World Championship) have achieved the MER.
Athletes and Horses that have completed the Individual Jumping Final at the last Olympic Games with a Score of not more than eight (8) penalties have achieved the MER.
Athletes and Horses that have completed the first Team Jumping Competition (Team Qualifier) or the second Team Jumping Competition (Team Final) at the last Olympic Games with a Score of not more than eight (8) penalties have achieved the MER.
Athletes and Horses are not required to qualify as combinations.
For the avoidance of doubt, Athletes and Horses that need to achieve a minimum score in the first round of more than one Grand Prix, FEI World CupTM or in the first or second round of more than one Nations Cup Competition at selected CSI3*, CSI1*/2*/3*-W / CSIO1*/2*/3*-W or CSIO3* and CSIO4* Events in order to earn a Certificate of Capability (paragraphs 3.5.1 and 3.3.6.1 above) may count the results obtained in the respective Grand Prix/FEI World CupTM Competition towards the overall total of minimum results required. For example, Athletes and Horses with a score of zero penalties in the first round of one FEI World CupTM Competition at a selected CSI1*/2*/3*-W Event, and a score of zero penalties in the first round of a Grand Prix Competition at a selected CSI3* Event and a score of zero penalties in the first or second round of a Nations Cup Competition at a selected CSIO3* event are considered to have fulfilled the minimum requirements for earning a Certificate of Capability.
