14 March 2021 - The horse in Belgium that tested positive and was showing clinical signs after returning from Vejer de Frontera is recovering well. A large number of horses in Belgium that had participated in the Spanish Sunshine Tour have been screened for EHV-1, and three horses have now returned positive results and are displaying mild clinical signs, but no neurological symptoms.
A group of Belgian veterinarians has set up a dedicated clinic with 25 boxes for isolating and treating EHV-1 positive horses.
The FEI has received a detailed report from the Spanish Sunshine Tour Organisers that horses are departing the venue in Vejer de la Frontera in a correct and biosecure way. A total of 73 have already left the showgrounds, and the required paperwork is already in place for more than 50% of those still onsite.
