The International Jumping Riders Club since 1977 is the voice of the showjumping riders from around the world.
A founder of the International Jumping Riders Club, Nelson Pessoa was one of the greatest riders of his generation. He represented his country at several editions of the Olympic Games, won two European Championship titles and, in 1992, at the age of 56, became the oldest equestrian to compete at the Barcelona Summer Olympics.
Today, as he celebrates his 90th birthday, the International Jumping Riders Club proudly honours Nelson Pessoa — a true legend of our sport and a visionary whose influence has shaped generations of riders and the values of top-level show jumping.
On behalf of the IJRC and its members, we extend our warmest congratulations and heartfelt thanks for his extraordinary legacy.
Happy 90th Birthday, Nelson — with our very best wishes from your Club and the entire jumping community.
