For the first time in 40 years, Team Switzerland scooped the coveted Aga Khan trophy when winning the sixth and final leg of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ 2023 Europe Division 1 series in Dublin (IRL) today.
Michel Sorg’s team of Steve Guerdat (Venard de Cerisy), Bryan Balsiger (Chelsea Z), Martin Fuchs (Leone Jei) and Edouard Schmitz (Gamin van’t Naastveldhof) finished way ahead of the rest of the field on a zero score, while the hosts from Ireland lined up in second with 12 faults ahead of Mexico in third with 16 on the board.
France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain and Great Britain filled the remaining places and today’s win also sees the Swiss topping the European Division 1 leaderboard at the end of this qualifying series for the 2023 Final which will take place in Barcelona (ESP) from 28 September to 1 October.
