Jon Doney , British Showjumping and FEI Official, International Course Designer and Technical Delegate, has passed away today, 1 April 2020.
He was appointed by the FEI as President of the Ground Jury for the forthcoming Tokyo Olympic Games and this would have been Jon’s third Games.
The IJRC Director Eleonora Ottaviani remembered him with these words:
'I had the great fortune of working with him twice as my 'technical delegate' at WEG, Rome, and at the European Championships at San Patrignano. Both times he was a tremendous support, both for technical issues and for morale. His capabilities, both as a judge and as a high level course designer, along with his understanding, were fundamental to the success of these events. He was always ready to resolve problems and never to create them. Over the years we have had the opportunity to work together at various events; friendship and mutual respect linked us for more than 20 years.'
Our thoughts go to Jon Doney's family, colleagues and friends in this moment of great sadness.
