In a superb closing round of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ 2022 Europe Division 1 series, Team Ireland won on home ground in Dublin last week.
But, drawn level with Team France on four faults after two exciting rounds, the result was only decided by a jump-off in which Marc Dilasser and Arioto de Gevres, the pair who sealed victory for the French in Hickstead (GBR) three weeks ago, set the target when clear in 31.81 seconds.
However Conor Swail and Count Me In set the home crowd alight when they shaved more than two seconds off that, stopping the clock on 30.31.
Swail joined team-mates Max Wachman (Berlux Z), Shane Sweetnam (James Kaan Cruz) and Cian O’Connor (Kilkenny) on the top step of the podium, with France in second ahead of Team Switzerland who slotted into third when completing on a final tally of eight faults.
The Netherlands, Brazil, USA and Norway filled the remaining places.
The Grand Prix of Dublin was won the young Swiss rider Edouard Schmitz with Gamin van't Naastveldhof (Chacco Chacco), followed by Conor Swail and Count Me In (Count Grannus).
In third place Shane Sweetnam with James Kann Cruz (Kannan).
