After 35 participations at the CHIO Aachen, Ludger Beerbaum says " goodbye" to international sport with a heavy heart and yet grateful for everything.
After his great round in the Grand Prix of Aachen with Mila, he has made his decision.
Ludger says: "I can look back on a great time as a rider, I have traveled the whole world and had wonderful experiences. Now the time has come to make room for the younger generation.
It is a pleasure for me to take this - for me not easy - step at the most beautiful tournament in the world.
I will continue to devote my life to equestrian sports. I cannot be completely without riding, as this was and is my purpose in life. That's why I will continue to train horses and also present them now and then on a small scale at competitions."
He thanked the Aachen audience from the bottom of his heart for the decades of support he and his horses have received here and was celebrated once again on the last lap of honor at the Soers.
