ROAD TO ROLEX IJRC TOP 10 FINAL: Max Kühner

Max Kühner

15/01/1974

It was a love at first sight what led Max Kühner, as a child, to put horses at the centre of his life.

He has no family connection to horse riding and it all started with an occasional experience during a skiing holiday in Kitzbühel, Austria.

Bavarian from Munich, Max devoted himself to sport and studies with the same drive and passion. He graduated in business administration and is an entrepreneur in the leasing branch.

After competing for Germany for years alongside riders such as Marcus Ehning, Christian Ahlmann and Marco Kutscher, he started riding under the Austrian flag in 2015. He will participate in the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final for the first time.

Sixth at the World Championships in Herning 2022, Kühner confirmed his condition at the European Championships in Milan 2023, where he finished seventh and played a major role in the Austrian team's bronze medal.

As a competitor, you’re a newcomer in the Rolex IJRC Top 10. You’re bearing the Austrian flag for the first time in this event. What does this milestone represent for you?

«Actually, I didn’t know it before! Of course, this makes me even more proud. It is also very motivating...».

Who would you bet on for the 2023 Top 10 podium?

«Henrik, Kent and, hopefully, myself» (Max smiles...)

Which horse are you going to enter in the Top 10 and why?

«I will enter Eic Up Too Jacco Blue. He is in great condition and he has the natural speediness which we would need in a top class like this».

Let's play a little game: enter your stable and think about Paris 2024. What is the first box you look at?

«At the moment I am in a very lucky position because I could think about several horses. The first thought will be, of course, for Elektric Blue P and Eic Up Too Jacco Blue.
