FEI Hybrid General Assembly from November 10th to November 13th, Cape Town (South Africa). Time zone: SAST (UTC+2)
The FEI Hybrid General Assembly is the annual meeting that covers the most important topics concerning equestrian sports.
On Saturday November 12th the following subjects will be addressed during the various sessions held:
Sessions 1 and 2 will be dedicated to the Equine Ethics and Wellbeing Commission, General Regulations and Calendar related proposals.
Session 3 will in the first part be dedicated to regulations concerning Dressage, Para Dressage, Eventing and Veterinary rules. Part two of this session will address rules for Jumping, Driving and Para Driving, Endurance, Vaulting and last but not least Anti-Doping (human and equine).
The Paris 2024 Olympic Qualification System for Jumping, Dressage and Eventing will be a key part of discussions in South Africa this year (session 4).
Sunday November 13th will instead be entirely reserved to the Ordinary General Assembly.
So there will be many very important subjects that will be debated in order to reach unanimous decisions, starting with the rules for the coming Paris Olympic Games, including the order of the competitions (the Jumping Committee supports the proposal to hold the Team Competitions before the Individual Competitions), the draw for the horse inspection and starting orders, the judging of the competitions and also athlete minimum eligibility criteria (MER). Another important issue concerns the FEI Olympic Ranking with a proposal envisaging, among other things, that points required for obtaining qualification must be obtained in classes no lower than 1.50m.
As far as the FEI Veterinary Regulations are concerned, there are many proposals for changes to be made. The most significant points include a proposal to close FEI area stables during shows for six consecutive hours during the night so as to guarantee horses can rest.
