Road to Aachen 2026: The Final Field Is Set

The road to the FEI Jumping World Championship Aachen 2026 has reached its final destination. With the publication of the official list of definite entries, the riders and horses that will compete for the world titles are now confirmed. The countdown has truly begun.

The final field brings together the world’s leading horse and rider combinations, all set to compete in Aachen’s legendary stadium from 17 to 23 August for the FEI World Championship titles.

JUMPING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TIMETABLE

The FEI Jumping World Championship in Aachen will take place over seven days, beginning with the horse inspection and concluding with the crowning of the new Individual World Champion.

• Monday 17 August: First Horse Inspection
• Tuesday 18 August: Training Session (local time: 9:00 am/4:15 pm)
• Wednesday 19 August: Speed Competition (first championship competition counting towards both the team and individual standings; local time: 9:30 am/5:20 pm
• Thursday 20 August: Team Competition Round 1 (local time: 9:00 am/5:10 pm)
• Friday 21 August: Team Competition Round 2 (local time: 6:50 pm/10:50 pm) 🏅 TEAM 
• Saturday 22 August: Rest day
• Sunday 23 August: Individual Final (local time: 2:20 pm/5:20 pm)🏅 INDIVIDUAL

COMPETITON FORMAT

• 19 August: Speed Competition. Penalties are converted into points via a coefficient, faults are penalised by seconds added to the time.
• 20/21 August: Team Championship. Two rounds determine the Team World Championship. Following the first round, the top 10 teams qualify for the medal deciding final on Friday. The top 60 individual riders also compete. 
• 23 August: Individual Final. The Individual World Champion is decided over two rounds. The top 25 combinations qualify for the first round of the final, with the best 12 progressing to the medal deciding second round.

STRONG IJRCPRESENCE AT AACHEN

The official list of participants highlights the IJRC’s strong presence at the highest level of international sport. Among the riders competing are four current members of the IJRC Board:

• Steve Guerdat (Switzerland)
• Kevin Staut, IJRC Vice President (France)
• Richard Vogel (Germany)

François Mathy Jr. leading Spain’s Team

Beyond the riders, the IJRC will also be represented in one of the Championship’s most important leadership roles.

IJRC President François Mathy Jr. will be in Aachen as Chef d’Équipe of the Spanish Jumping Team, continuing the work he began following his appointment at the end of 2025. Working alongside the Spanish coaching staff, he will oversee team preparation, selection and competition strategy as Spain aims to challenge for top results and continue building towards Los Angeles 2028.

A Club at every level of the sport

The presence of the IJRC President, the Vice President and four current Board members at the FEI World Championship reflects the unique role of the Club within international show jumping not only through sporting excellence in the arena, but also through technical leadership and active participation in the governance of the sport.

DEFINITE ENTRIES

With the publication of the definite entries, the starting field for the FEI Jumping World Championship Aachen 2026 is now complete. The Championship will feature 31 teams, representing 23 countries and two Neutral Individual Athletes.
