Tiffany Foster Wins Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award

Wellington, Florida – Tiffany Foster of North Vancouver, BC, claimed the Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award on Sunday, February 7, during week four of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, FL.

Foster accumulated the most points of all female competitors in the $50,000 CSI4* Adequan WEF Challenge Cup Round 4 held Friday, February 5, and the $214,000 CSI4* Marshall & Sterling/Great American Grand Prix on Sunday, February 7. The two-time Canadian Olympian and Northern Light, a 10-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare (Plot Blue x Contender) that Foster owns in partnership with Andy and Carlene Ziegler’s Artisan Farms LLC, jumped clear in the first round of the WEF Challenge Cup and were double-clear to place fifth in the Grand Prix.

“It’s a great thing that Martha recognizes women in this sport,” said Foster, 36, of the Leading Lady Award. “There are so many great female riders doing well right now and it’s an honor to receive this award. It really indicates where you stand and how you’re doing. I really appreciate it.”

Jolicoeur, accompanied by her husband, Dr. Stephen Norton, presented Foster with a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, and a gift certificate for a shopping spree at Hunt, Ltd. in recognition of her title.

“I was so happy with my horse,” said Foster of her mount, Northern Light. “She’s pretty green for this level. Eric Lamaze found her. He called me and said, ‘I have a perfect horse for you,’ and he was right! She’s just wonderful and she keeps getting better. She doesn’t have the experience to go super fast but she was right in there with some pretty experienced horses and riders in the Grand Prix. I’m very proud of her.”

A sponsor and dedicated supporter of horse sport at WEF for many years, 2021 marks Jolicoeur’s 11th season presenting the Leading Lady Rider Award. She began presenting the award in 2010 as a way of recognizing female accomplishments in an Olympic sport where men and women compete as equals. A former competitor herself, Jolicoeur enjoyed a successful international show jumping career before becoming Florida’s number one Douglas Elliman real estate broker.

The Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award, given in memory of fellow realtor and horseman Dale Lawler, is presented weekly to the high-score female rider based on performances in the weekly WEF Challenge Cup series and grand prix events. During the final week of WEF, the Martha Jolicoeur Overall Leading Lady Rider Award will be presented to the female rider who accumulates the most points throughout the season. So far in 2021, Erynn Ballard of Canada and American riders Laura Kraut and Adrienne Sternlicht have won the Leading Lady Rider Award in addition to Foster.
