Another brilliant win for Daniel Deusser in Mechelen

Daniel Deusser and his amazing gelding Cornet d’Amour, a ten year old Westfalien by Cornet Obolensky x Damiani, won the sixth leg of the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping 2013/2014 Western European League series at Mechelen, Belgium.

In the long and narrow arena at the Nekkerhalle in Mechelen only four of the 40 competitors went in the  jump-off. “I expected more clears, but it was a long, tough course and the time was tight.  It was the kind of course where you had to totally concentrate from the first fence to the very last” said the winning rider. Second place to Jens Fredricson with Lunatic, they jumped before Daniel that expressed this comment regarding Jens course:  "Lunatic is a very fast horse, so my alarm button was on and I really had to try. I decided to take one stride less to the double vertical and I did have a bit of luck there, luckily the poles stayed. Cornet jumps the doubles really well so I knew it was there I could catch in a bit on Jens' time." Jens Fredricsson  after producing his beautiful round said: “I was third last year, second this year, so I have to come back next year and try to win. I came to Mechelen because I think it is a superb competition. I am not trying to obtain a place in the World Cup this year, but am planning to do a few small indoor competitions before focusing on the outdoor season.” In third place, Pilar Lucrecia Cordon on Nuage Bleu, said about his competition: “Nuage Bleu jumped amazingly well. I just rode a smooth jump off and cannot go faster at the moment, he needs more experience for that. Double clear and a third place was the highest achievable goal and I am very happy with it.”
