Countdown to CSIO Barcelona 2017 begins

The Nations Cup™ series is equestrian sport’s oldest and most prestigious team challenge, with national teams from around the globe competing for one of the most coveted prizes in this Olympic discipline.

The series aims to unite nations and foster lifelong enthusiasm for the world of horses. Its global format means that more countries can host qualifiers at world-class venues and aim to win the FEI Nations Cup™ title by acquiring qualifying points according to their placings.

This week the Nations Cup will conclude in Barcelona, where the best teams in the world will compete to win the title.

For the fifth year in a row, CSIO Barcelona will host the Longines FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final, the most important competition in the international equestrian calendar. Over the four days, the Olympic arena of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona will be the venue of nine competitions in total. The competitions will be inclusive of the most outstanding riders in the world ranking. Six competitions will be individual, while the other three will form part of the Nations Cup Final.

A total of 18 teams with nine from Europe, two each from North and Central America, South America, Middle East and Asia/Australia and one from Africa, will be eligible to compete at the Longines FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final. The final will consist of three competitions. The top eight teams from the opening class will go to the third and final competition, while the remainder will compete in the Longines FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final - Challenge Cup which will be held prior to the Final competition of Saturday.
