Please take time to read this interesting programme we received from FEI:
to keep our sport clean and fair.
Dear FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018 participant,
We are contacting you regarding the FEI Awareness Raising Programme - Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions.
The aim of this programme is to protect the credibility and the integrity of equestrian sport and it will be activated for the first time ever at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018.
This campaign focuses not only on athletes and officials, but also on other accredited persons at the Games in Tryon, including athletes’ support personnel such as trainers, owners, grooms and veterinarians.
* Note: The legal basis of this programme can be found in the Olympic Charter, in the Olympic Agenda 2020 of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and in the FEI Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (Appendix G of the FEI General Regulations). A breach of this Code may be a criminal offence and may incur legal sanctions.
WHAT IS COMPETITION MANIPULATION?
Competition manipulation
is when athletes (and/or their support personnel) or officials cheat to remove the unpredictability of a competition. They may cheat to lose a competition, or part of it, which is entirely against the sporting spirit. This includes:
Betting;
Misuse of inside information;
Match-fixing; and
Tanking (deliberate losing).
Always keep in mind the simple rules described in the FEI Code of Conduct on Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions:
NEVER bet on your own discipline, or on any other disciplines or competitions of the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018
NEVER manipulate a competition and always do your best
NEVER share inside information
ALWAYS report anything suspicious that could be related to competition manipulation
