Half way to end third year edition of A Young Riders Academy. Sven Holmberg's thoughts.

We are at halfway of our third year with ”A Young Riders Academy” and a milestone has been laid.

It has been a pleasure to see this year’s young riders perform so well during the season with some spectacular results from those who have been lucky enough to have horses for the big classes at CSI 4* and 5*. Emma, Laura, Derin, Jack, Pål, have been showing off in style and the others have produced impressive results with horses on another level.

Unfortunately all is not sunshine every day, Letitia have been struggling with a bad knee making her second half of the year mostly rebuilding strength. Eoin had a bad fall in May which ruined his second half year with a back injury. It is more that delightful to be able to see that he is now back in the saddle again competing in Leipzig.

During the season we have had good contact with previous year´s Young Riders. Maria and Marcel where in Rome at the CSIO 5*, Emilie competed in Geneva and Monica has made several good results in the south east.

Then there is Bertram, still in the very World Top winning three cars at the show in Stockholm for the second consecutive year.

With reference to training aspects, we would like to say a special “Thank You” to Jos Lansink. Without his help it would not have been possible to organise the three days clinic in Opglabbeek in October. An experience that we will repeat indeed, as it was great training and a good boost for the “Young Riders Family” as participants from past editions met together for few days challenging each other on various topics.

Under the supervision of Louis Koninckx, they have all drawn their own course. Finally Monica Martinis’ course design was considered best, all riders helped building it and Boy Adrian then won the class.

This coming year we will offer a similar clinic to a selected Young Riders group from Eastern and Central Europe. Probably in Bulgaria in March.

The all group had been invited to CHI Geneve also this year and the opportunity to attend both Top Ten and Rolex Grand Slam from the backstage had been amazing.

After three years, many organisers have recognized the quality of the Academy, and as a result it has been possible to obtain invitations to several more shows. We are very grateful for each opportunity that is offered.

We hope our riders are learning from this adventure with us, we are certainly learning from them and hopefully we will be able to improve every year.

We are happy and very grateful to ROLEX who had decided to continue its support for at least another five years. THANK`S !
