ITALIAN EVENT RIDER KILLED IN A FALL DURING A COMPETITION IN TURIN



12 April - Italian event rider Sabrina Manganaro from Lonate Pozzolo, has been killed in a fall at the national event in San Giorgio Canavese, Turin.

Her death was confirmed this afternoon (Sunday 12 April) by the Italian Equestrian Federation (FISE) that wrote on its website:

“We report with immense sorrow that today, Sunday, 12 April, during the course of a category three National event at Cuceglio (TO) Sabrina Manganaro tragically lost her life.”

It continues that Sabrina and her mount Jack Of Mezzograno, “underestimated” the size of the obstacle at fence 13 and fell, causing “immediate death” at around 10.50am.

The 25-year-old rider was attended to by doctors at the event, but could not be saved.  The horse was not injured during the fall.

The competition was stopped immediately after the accident, in respect of Sabrina and of all competitors of this event.
