JEROME GUERY HAS WON THE CSI5* GP OF KNOKKE HIPPIQUE!
29 June - The Belgians concluded the first edition of Knokke Hippique victorious. Also the second Porsche was won by a rider of the home country. Jerome Guery beat Harrie Smolders of the Netherlands in the CSI5* Porsche Grand Prix of Knokke Hippique. Two Belgian horses topped the main class of this top level show with Papillon Z (Perhaps) on number one and Don VHP Z (Diamant de Semilly) on two. Michael Whitaker (Viking), who had to go early, ended up in third spot. Belgian not only won, but also finished in fourth place with Constant Van Paesschen (Citizenguard Taalex). Olympic Champion Steve Guerdat makes the top five complete. Could this even come to an end in a nicer way?
“It was an amazing victory. Michael was so fast in the Jump Off that I didn’t believe it possible. I took a lot of risk in the last lane…but I pushed and won. It is unbelievable.”
Harrie Smolders missed the Porsche but takes his second place well. ‘Jerôme is a fast guy to ride a Porsche.’
Michael Withaker granted the first and seond place to the youth. Als second to start at the Jump Off he knew a victory would not be easy. ‘At my age…,’ he smiled.
