John Whitaker and Argento, take Hong Kong’s biggest win

15 February - The British Master John Whitaker has set the crowd on fire today in Hong Kong following his win in the saddle of his faithful stallion, Argento (Arko III) in the event’s biggest class, the Longines Grand Prix of Hong Kong. The pair already won the day before the Gucci Gold Cup and would prove unbeatable in the 1’60m two rounds Longines Grand Prix with 13 pairs earning a chance in round two and finally 7 achieving a double clear on the huge track. First to stand in the lead and sit on the trone to watch his contenders go, was France’s Simon Delestre and a very good jumping Ryan Des Hayettes (Mozart Des Hayettes) who stopped the clock in 43’58. But sadly for them, in a winning mood John Whitaker and Argento jumped an amazing round and blazed the timers in 42’54 to push Delestre down and take his seat on the trone. Finally, last year’s winning pair, Sweden’s Henrik Von Eckermann and Gotha (Goldfever) would take runner up position as they stopped the clock in 43’28.
