14 February- Week six at the Winter Equestrian Festival featured yesterday one of the schedule’s major classes, the “$85,000 Salamander Hotels & Resorts Grand Prix CSI 3*” that saw USA’s top rider Kent Farrrington take his second consecutive win aboard his speedy Blue Angel (Luidam) in this prestigious class on the ring at The Stadium. Richard Jeffery proposed a track for 39 entries with 9 clearing all the fences to advance to the jump off. Kent Farrington’s Grand Prix horses, Voyeur and Uceko, are having a beak to get fresh for the summer season, so he choose to ride his wonderful Blue Angel, for whom the smaller size of the arena was an advantage. The pair would reach the finish line in an amazingly fast time of 38’85, to take the win of this “$85,000 Salamander Hotels & Resorts Grand Prix CSI 3*”for a second year in a row. Euro Horse’s stable rider , Holland’s Harrie Smolders, in a hot streak at the WEF, took 2nd place in the saddle of his huge strided stallion Don VHP (Diamant De Semilly) who took out a stride to the last fence to stop the clock in 39’64 followed by Britain’s Ben Maher in the saddle of his new mount, Valinski S (Nikinski) who arrived to Ben’s stables on Monday, and on their first time out take a wonderful 3rd place yesterday at the WEF.
