Open letter to the FEI by the Jumping Owners Club

The Jumping Owners Club, following the decisions taken during the FEI General Assembly in Tokyo last month, regarding the Olympic and World Equestrian Games format changes, wrote a letter to the FEI to express its surprise and disappointment because the riders and the owners' opinions have not been considered.

Why the FEI  has not even thought to consider the idea of an alternative Olympic Games format proposal put forward by the International Jumping Riders Club?

In the letter the President of the Jumping Owners Club Christian Baillet said: "We expressed on various occasions, and notably during your presentation at the Jumping Owners Club General Assembly in Barcelona, that the new Olympic Games format proposed by the FEI, now approved by the National Federations, was not satisfactorily taking into consideration the welfare of our horses".

Regarding the changes of the World Equestrian Games format, the Jumping Owners Club underlined in their open letter to the FEI: "The fact that the decision about the new WEG format was made without prior consultation with the riders or the owners reinforces our concerns and tends to reflect a lack of consideration for the primary partakers of equestrian sports."
