RISING EQUESTRIAN STAR OLIVIA INGLIS, 17, FROM TOP HORSE-BREEDING FAMILY, DEAD DURING AN EQUESTRIAN EVENT

ONE of Australia’s best known racing families is in mourning after the death last week of 17-year-old Olivia Inglis that had been killed in a rotational fall on the cross-country course at the Scone Horse Trials in New South Wales.


Top bloodstock agent Arthur Inglis and his wife Charlotte were left “traumatised” when their eldest daughter died after her horse stumbled and fell on her. On-field paramedics rushed to Ms Inglis’ aid but were unable to be revive her.


Equestrian Australia spokeswoman Judy Fasher said the Inglis family — part of the country’s biggest racing dynasties — had watched from the grandstand and were “beside themselves”.

Paying tribute to the “talented and accomplished” teen, an emotional Ms Fasher said Olivia had been riding since she was a little girl. “She was an accomplished rider, very experienced and has been riding all her life, since she was a little tot,” she said.

Following the tragic accident that claimed the life of Olivia Inglis in Australia, equestrians around the world were uniting to create a collage in her memory. More then  8 million people shared their favorite photos of them and their horses on the social media, with the hashtag #rideforolivia.
