ROLEX IJRC TOP 10 FINAL: The countdown is on!

26 November - In 2001, The International Jumping Riders Club (IJRC), in Partnership with Gandini, created the IJRC Top 10 Final. The idea behind the competition was to recognise and celebrate the achievements and talents of some of the finest Show Jumpers in the world and Rolex has been a loyal supporter since its inception. Now, in its 14th year, the event is regarded as one of the pinnacles in the international Show Jumping calendar where the world’s Top 10 horse and rider partnerships go head to head in a battle for end-of-year glory. Last year in Stockholm (SWE), Daniel Deusser was victorious with Evita van de Veldbalie.

This year the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final will be coming to Geneva, its home for the next few years. Geneva is very much the spiritual home of the Top 10 final, having hosted the first seven editions. The final then migrated to Brussels in 2008, to Paris in 2009 and 2011 and to Stockholm in 2013. Geneva, the home of Rolex, hosts the CHI Geneva - part of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping - and since 1996, Rolex has been the presenting sponsor of the event.

Eleonora Ottaviani, Director of the IJRC “This concept of competition takes equestrianism into the future.  Bringing together riders, owners, sponsors and the media on this global scale is fantastic as it helps to guarantee the events evolution and development.”

Alban Poudret, Sports Director, CHI Geneva said “Rolex has a strong hereditary connection with Geneva, so it seems fitting that the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final should be based here for the next few years. Over 200 journalists from radio, TV and news publications are on site during the CHI Geneva, it is a great platform for international exposure for the event and the riders taking part.”

At only 31 years old, Rolex Testimonee, Steve Guerdat, has already competed in four Rolex IJRC Top 10 Finals and won the title in 2010. He said “It is truly an honour to compete in this event and be regarded as one of the Show Jumping world’s Top 10 riders. For many riders this is the ultimate goal and recognition that so many of us strive for.”

For over 50 years, Rolex has been proud to be a major force behind some of the equestrian world’s finest events. A true partner in the sport, the leading Swiss luxury watchmaking brand continues to make a unique and lasting contribution to equestrianism around the world. Across the disciplines of Show Jumping, Eventing and Dressage Rolex sponsors over 30 international events and some of the globe’s most prominent equestrian athletes.
