Stella, Meredith top horse, passed away
On Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum'facebook page, Meredith wrote:
It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Stella today.
She has been with us for 24 years, since she was 4 years old. Stella was not only my partner in our hard fight to make the German team (as the first woman ever), she was also a good friend to me. Among many other great successes we shared, she jumped double clear in the 1999 Europeans in Hickstead to help the German team win gold, opening the door for women in the sport in Germany.
I will never forget Stella or ever stop appreciating what she did for me. She was the spark in my career and will be greatly missed.
After her retirement from the sport, she went on to become a mother, before she came home to us in Thedinghausen, where she spent her last years in the field.
