From May 12th to 15th, the sea resort of La Baule will welcome close to 30 000 spectators for its traditional Longines Jumping International, a worldwide event that brings together every year the best jumping horses and riders. While top-level sport should shake the grandstands of the François André stadium, a few months away from the Rio Olympic Games, the Pentecost weekend will also be an occasion to discover a charming coastline under the early spring sunbeams…
La Baule is a much more than a sea resort by the Atlantic Ocean. It is above all a living place with incredible assets, mixed emotions, flavours and colours, only 3 hours away from Paris. Wander through the small streets to admire the 19th century villas and their gardens beneath the pine trees, the Côte Sauvage, the Guérande peninsula, the ancient city of the Dukes of Brittany, the salt water marshes of the White Land and its water mirrors where more than 250 salt workers harvest every year 12000 tons of salt, or the natural Park of Brière, unique gems located between land and sea.
La Baule is the sea, an ideal spot to practice water sports, an immense 9km long beach, and a seafront, paradise of the joggers. In 2012, the World Bays Association ranked La Baule bay among the 36 most beautiful in the world, a reward for the richness of its fauna and flora, the development of its economic activities, and the proximity of remarkable and attractive natural spaces.
La Baule is a town where Sport is the king and Culture the queen: exhibitions, literary meetings, jazz festival… Honoré de Balzac, Alfred de Musset or Gustave Flaubert used to enjoy strolling around La Baule. They often found there an inspiration that can still be felt at a street corner of face to the sea.
