The story of the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final

The Top Ten was born at the end of the nineties, when the International Jumping Riders Club, in the persons of Eleonora Ottaviani, François Mathy Jr.and Rodrigo Pessoa, started to work to im- prove the formula of the ranking list.

They also found a sponsor: Susi Gandini, a woman of high fashion, the sister of current Italian Federation president Vittorio Orlandi. A special class was created to thank and to give visibility to the sponsor, which had helped to develop a more accurate ranking list.

The result of this was the invention of the Top Ten Final, which recognizes and celebrates the achievements of the best show jumpers in the world.

The initial sponsors were Gandini and Rolex. Only the Top Ten riders in the global rankings were invited to go head-to-head and only a brilliant sportsman or sports-woman able to perform at their very best on every occasion, is capable of winning this elite competition, which demands exceptional timing, courage and skill.
